Bahrain, Where America's Support for Democracy Dies Print E-mail

America's support for democracy dies for the islands of Bahrain. The loss of American military power that would accompany an overthrow of the regime of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is incalculable. Nestled between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, Bahrain is home to 1.2 million people. It's also home to the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet - a vital instrument for the Pentagon in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Fighter jets from carriers in the fleet provide close air support for American troops in Afghanistan. The fleet is also a potential bulwark against a future nuclear Iran, analysts note.

"It's our most important strategic asset in the Persian Gulf," said Michael Rubin, a former Bahrain resident and Middle East expert at the American Enterprise Institute.

GROUP of YOUNG MEN MARCHED BRAVELY and PEACEFULLY TOWARDS PEAL ROUNDABOUT to CLAIM THAT SPACE... THEY WERE MET WITH LIVE AMMUNITION from the ARMY. M16 RIFLES WERE USED. MORE CRIMES BY THE RULING REGIME...

EVERYTHING BELOW IS TO BE VIEWED AT THE VIEWER'S DISCRETION... THIS IS A DOCUMENTATION OF CRIMES COMMITTED BY THE AL-KHALIFA REGIME AND THEIR MERCENARIES.

this has nothing to do with sh3a or sunnah let alone religion. its simply about human rights and self determination. no need to make this a sectarian issue.

Sublime Sanity,
Astaghfru Allah, I don’t even imply that Bahrain uprising is not legitimate, I only stated the obvious that it is organized by Shii whom “over 70% “ of the Bahrini population without being presented in any high level government officials – does that seems reasonable to you.
CNN, Al Jazeerah and other channels covered Egypt uprising, and now Libya hardly mentioned any news about Bahrin is that unbiased media in your opinion.
And as we all know the politics played in the USA kitchen, they do not want to upset a strong ally in the middle east, moreover they are terrified that as Shii government in Bahrain will create more power to Iran against the US. – would feel fair to you.

Azainabiyate,

i disagree this is not sh3a-sunni matter. the king and princes of bahrain are barely muslim let alone sunni. they oppress sunnis too. the uprising is genuine.

Enna Lellah Wa Enna Elihi Rag3oun, USA will not move a finger despite their strong presence, in Bahrain it comes down to Sunni corrupted regime using their powers, against the uprising of Shii, this is not the first protest in Bahrain, but it is the first massacre with this magnitude against fairness and freedom- what we see here in another Karblaa
May God Have mercy on them
